After practicing as a civil litigator for 30 years, rising to be become an equity partner in the country’s largest law firms, I am running for Cook County Circuit Court Judge. The citizens of Cook County deserve a competent and diverse judiciary, and I want to continue working in the law as a judge to perform this function. If elected, my personal commitment is to make fair and impartial decisions based on the law and the facts of each case, and to serve with integrity, diligence, humility, and common sense.
While working as a governor appointed Illinois Court of Claims Commissioner, where I presided over 26 trials, and as a Secretary of State Jesse White appointed hearing officer, I understood the courtrooms to which I was assigned were not mine; they were, and remain the people’s. Each person appearing in court is entitled to fairness, impartiality, and transparency. It is important for both our democracy and the legitimacy of our legal system that people feel they are treated with courtesy and respect by judges. My temperament and demeanor, combined with my years of experience in multiple roles in the courtroom, will ensure the courtroom is a place both fair and neutral for all. My supervisors and those appearing before me in the Court of Claims agree I possess these essential hallmarks of a good judge.
It would be a tremendous honor and privilege to serve the people of Cook County, who expect and merit nothing less than courts committed to safeguarding the right of all to receive equal treatment under the law. I have been favorably rated by ALL of the reviewing Bar Associations and endorsed by several community, business, and political leaders. I ask for your support.
